All the Family
This beautiful multi-generational family session took place at the gorgeous Tratorria Lisina in Driftwood, TX. Although somewhat crowded, this venue was a beautiful place to host a family photography session. It was very easy to get away from the crowds and find some beautiful light. Multi family photo sessions can often be stressful and frantic.
I just recently wrote a blog post The Whole Family which explores the ins and outs of gathering the entire family together for a photography session. I encourage you to check it out if you are planning an upcoming photo session. With a little planning and a lot of deep breaths, these sessions can come together quite nicely. With a large group of people, there are always difficulties, but finding positive ways to work through them will make your session easy and fun.
For this session we were dealing with three tricky variables: the light, the wind, and the crowds. How we managed this was to find ourselves some private spaces to work in with good lighting. We also were just patient with the wind and waited it out. This family was so flexible and easy going that it wasn’t a problem at all.
I truly enjoyed working with this sweet family. I have worked with smaller groups for many years and it was fun to photograph all the generations. We started out with some more formal groupings and by the end of the session, we were playing around and getting great candids. I always encourage you to try and get some candid photos, even in more formal family picture environments. These are the ones that will make you look back and smile.
It is always a good idea to get a great mix of images and to always know what you are wanting. Communication is great and it helps me know what your envisioning.
Enjoy this family sweetness and golden beautiful light.
